Brazilian visas are issued based on Jurisdiction, which basically means that depending on what State you reside, the application will be sent to the assigned Consulate in that Jurisdiction.

Visa is usually valid for entry within 90 days of the issue date, and then becomes valid after the first entry, for multiple entries for a further ninety days to five years. If it is not used within 90 days of issue date, the visa automatically expires. The period of stay in Brazil, of each entry, may be between 30 days and three months (no more than six months stay during any 12 months period). Persons who are visiting friends or conducting activities other than sightseeing may be issued a more limited visa, valid for entry for only 30-90 days, for a stay of up to 30 days. The specific validity of each visa - 30 days, 90 days or 5 years for entry, or 30 days, or 90 days stay - is determined solely by the Consulate and cannot be changed.
